I'm thinking about having the 289 out of my 64 1/2 rebuilt. I would love to try to do it myself but worry it might be a bit above my pay grade. Anyone have any suggestions for places in Durham NC area to go??

thanks!
Greg

If you're willing to drive, I had an old 354 hemi rebuilt at Bos Machine Shop in Greensboro.
111 N Church St, Greensboro, NC 27401
(336) 275-5883

They know old school stuff and did a nice job and work was completed in the time promised. They were recommended to me by someone who's had years of experience working with them.

I live in Chapel Hill now, and haven't needed anyone so haven't looked closer. But if I needed a motor rebuilt, I'd still make the drive back to Greensboro.

Pull it yourself.

Have them rebuild the short block, then you can assemble it yourself,....easy and fun if you've not do this before.

I have had good service from Sloan's, but I have only had them do the machine work.

Where in Charlotte? I am in Concord, and in the middle and heart of NASCAR country, I cannot find ****. I called the Mustang Museum in concord and asked for a referance, I called Daniel Carpenter in Concord, I called NPD in Charlotte and cannot find a shop that knows Mustangs, especially carburetor adjustments. My neighbor works for a NHRA drag race team, its a Chevy outfit, still cannot find a repuitable shop. I have some issues with my rebuild and am looking for someone who know's SBF's and Autolite 4100 carbs in NC or heck, even SC. I am all ears. Sorry to the OP, I did not mean to hijack your thread.
