Hi all,
I am a Tech Ed teacher, you all remember shop classes? I'm that guy. Unlike that guy you may remember, I have all my fingers still. I kid, I kid.
I teach, amongst other things, a class in which we're restoring a Mustang for a gent in our community. He supplied the car, a barn find, and a generous budget. My students supply the labor in exchange for a neat project to learn about cars from.
The car is an automatic 1966 coup. It had an L6, and we're swapping to a 289, and we'll replace the stock brakes with discs. There's rust. Floor pan has shotgun holes, bottoms of the doors are pretty bad, but otherwise isn't excessive. The body is complete, but there's some really ugly dents - bad winkles that we're never getting out, and a few spots that had 3/4" of filler hiding some sins.
We're very close to being down to bare metal, and are starting to pull dents as best we can. New engine (a crate motor) will be here any day now.
If you all want to shoot me tips, I'll take them. I'm not a natural car guy, but I love them and love learning. I won't lie...I do have a soft spot for Mustangs, so this is a learning-labor of love. Love the car, love the job. Most of the kids are alright
Thanks for the add.
