Hello friends, I was under the 65 doing some general maintenance this morning and noticed some odd witness marks on my passenger side lower control arm bushing. The driver side does not have these marks I don’t know if this is normal or not? Car drives fine I just happened to notice it while I was lubing the chassis. What do you guys think? Thanks

Bushing is slipping in the arm. It shouldn't do that, you should pull it and replace it.

Yikes. With the arm as far back as it looks in the pic, I wonder what the caster setting is.

If you use a stock style replacement, install Energy Suspension’s lower bushing.
Works great.

Definitely repair or replace depending on ball joint.

Great reason to upgrade to Opentracker or Pacific Thunder Performance

That lower control arm looks bent now or it is some odd affect of the photo.

Thanks for all the replies. I put sot strut rods on last fall and had 2.5 degrees of castor added. I wonder if that was the straw that broke the camels back lol. I’m going to give Opentracker a call Monday and order some new lower arms and some roller perches too. Mine are shot anyway. Might do the Shelby drop while I’m in there and have the springs out.

I see that he shared that information afterwards.

i can understand the binding though.

If using stock type control arms and offsets the shaft, binding will be minimal.

Great reason to upgrade if it’s an option.

Opentracker to the rescue! I ended up replacing my upper and lower control arms and installed roller perches too. The LCA I originally posted about was so bad the bushing fell out when I removed it from the frame! My perches were wasted too with the rubber falling out of the ends. I did the shelby drop at the same time which improved the stance a bit. I haven't driven it yet but the suspension feels smoother bouncing it in the garage. Alignment appointment is Friday morning, hopefully I can find some twisty roads Saturday!

Great pics. Always love to see a work in progress. I need to do this same project on my 67.

So, proof of binding and outcome with stock LCA and adjustable strut rods. Glad I already decided to go to spherical bearing units.

Finish up your suspension with his roller bearing idler arm! That takes a LOT of slop out of the steering not to mention a whole new responsiveness. I predict new springs in your future. Now that you have the roller bearing perches and LCA, you've removed a lot of binding. You'll find now your front end lifts up on acceleration.
