The first is a black on black S-code 4spd fastback with an 8K tack and console!! All of these cars are owned by the same guy along with dozens of other great cars like Mopars, vintage t-birds, 50's and 60's vettes, 427 Galaxie (with engine!) and many others all in the same yard and all rotting away. Offers were made but it does not look like they will be leaving car-hell very soon.

If that is in Tennessee, I will come up and help figure out a way to strong arm the owner into parting with a few...or figure out someone that knows him to see if they can save a couple for us.

Come on. . .you know they're going to be "fixing them up any day now."

There is a reason it is called trailer trash . Keep the property values down . He could sell all those cars and buy a nice house .

#6 ·
That is just plain sad. The Mustang Gods will get him someday.

That's enough to make a grown man cry

  :naive:

Pull up in a brand new GT and offer to trade him for all the cars in his yard. Come back in ten years to see how bad the '05 GT looks.

There are about 500 cars there.

I would have to agree. Look up the term trailer trash, and you'll see a pic very similar to that. There is a bright side, less cars "IN circulation" = higher values for those that own them.

my wifes grandfather was the same way. had tons of 30's,40's,50's and 60's cars. around 250 when he died.
It was his "collection". None were ever for sale along with no sales of parts from them. most were sinking into the ground rotting away. When he died the family ended up having a huge auction. It was a real shame. I am not sure why people are that way. i am told he just liked the fact people wanted what he had.....
I know of a decent 70 Boss 302 in one of those same situations sitting behind some bums house. "NOT FOR SALE" even though the peoples house looks like it is ready to fall down.

My neighbour has a 67 Falcon wagon with a 289, trees have grown up around the car.....but he won't sell it, gonna fix'er up.

If there is a 73 mustang in there with the unfortunate others, I'd Mission Impossible that S($. Not to look like a car theif or anything. I always purchase at a reasonable price but in this situation I'd be a Classic Auto Hero!

Hes goina fixem up; just hasn't gotta roundtoit yet. Sides that they all worth over a hundred thousand apiece (fixed) You can bet I've seen this picture a lot of times. I don't even ask if they're for sale anymore :wall: My wife don't even like to stop if there's an old car in view, she says I talk too much or drag "junk" home. :joker:

big wads of CASH often help in these situations. If he's living in a trailer that looks that disheveled, a fat wad of dead presidents will get one of those stangs.

Dealt with an older man who had the same set up, always going to fix them up, but actually had a few cars he would sell part off of. I remember a K car, 66, body fair, that was down on 4 flats, belly on the ground, hood frozen in the upright position, correct 4100 carb, that he would not sell ANYTHING off of, because that was a fixer, even "drove it in there" but the car (engine) was covered in snow, and you knew the water was getting down in the engine for the last 10 years. I put a board and stone over the carb. This went on for 4 years. Came by after a 4 month gap, place was mowed clean, no cars. Old man had died, everything was crushed, and land sold for development, according to the wrecking yard next door. He said even he couldn't buy the cars, as the estate could not find the titles on the cars, so rather than risk legal problems in settling the estate, they had it all crushed and hauled.

Probably his "retirement plan". After he quits working he will be able to sell them all and make a fortune. So he thinks. meanwhile they are losing value with every spec of rust that grows. To bad.

He is already in his mid 80's adn he does live in the trailer behind the black S-code. so I guess those dreams of a cushy retirement are already out the window. I think it is more of a case like the one stated above. He just likes having something that other people want, and he enjoys having the power over the visitors that otherwise would never come knocking on the trailer door. So sad.

You got in there, took pictures, and got out alive so you just might be making points with him. Start hanging around more and offer to help straighten his place up for a choice of car instead of cash. Who knows, in time with enough effort you could inheret the whole thing some day.
