I am looking to build a 1967 GT500 from scratch and was initially planning to build a stock Mustang Fastback using these parts:
http://www.fordrestorationparts.com/restoration/PublishedBOM.pdf
and then proceeding to try and convert it to a GT500.

However now I am thinking of starting from ground up to build a GT500.
I want to start off with a Dynacorn body but need suggestions for good restorer who can source parts/ assemblies for a complete GT500 '67 for me.
Any people you guys suggest?

Thanks

To be clear you are aiming to build a 67 GT500 Shelby clone from scratch right?

You may want to see if Glazier Nolan is willing to take this on. This is not a resto it's like a super kit car IMO.

Good luck,
Slim

First guess is they'll decline.

Hmmm… G/N is doing a 69 GT500 from junk right now, and just finished a 68 GT500KR from junk, and a 68 GT500 from junk a couple years ago. They once built a "BOSS 302" clone that is totally authentic other than the VIN.

1970 Sportsroof

Creating a 67 GT500 clone from a Dynacorn body would be easy compared to those cars.

You have a good list to start from. We are in the middle of building a 1967 Dynacorn Mustang and I just want to let you know before you start that you will have a LOT of hours getting the parts to fit as there are very few aftermarket parts that bolt on without some modifications and sometimes major modifications.

To be clear, Rustys talking about a brand, spanking new Dynacorn body,..look for his thread, as I read I was suprised at the small things that didn't match up, even something easy like the radiator supports.

I haven't gotten to the interior where none of the brackets are in the right spot for the trim and panels or how the after market trim panels and vents don't fit either.

Well, you probably need to just find a good restomod body shop, as most specialist Shebly restorers would probably not do a clone on a Dyncorn shell. And then do a lot of homework.

The Shelby crowd is generally very reluctant to share info to those making replica/clone/tributes... as I am finding in doing up an EXP500. Trying to find details on the front fiberglass install and having little luck in anyone sharing original pics of assembly and part (fastener) details as I am trying to use "period correct" as much as possible.

I use to own a 67 GT350 (sold it a few years ago). I have a lot of photos of the front when I was restoring it. I am also building a shelby clone. Anytime you need a pic, let me know.

One of the best already posted in the thread...check out Rusty's restorations and give him a call. If I had the cash lying around that is where my car would be.
