Upgrading SOT with SOT

Received my coilover upgrade from @Shaun @ Street or Track today for my current SOT suspension. Looks so nice, a shame it’ll be hidden. :)

I’ll soon have my Koni Red shocks front and rear along with my SOT upper control arms for sale with maybe 7k miles on them.

A review of the differences between the two setups(hopefully it’s noticeable considering the $$ outlay) will be coming! :)

We will see!

I am interested in the differences in shocks(Bilstein vs Koni) and being able to use a lower spring rate to achieve the same function as before with the added benefits of longer shock etc

I'm also curious at the difference. I have the non coil over with Sport Bilsteins. I'm pretty happy with it. If I had to take a guess, on the street I think the big difference will be in ride quality. On the track my guess it'll offer a little more control with it's longer shocks running cooler.

That is what I am guessing as well. Shaun is interested in my review too going from the system you and I have, to going coilover. I suspect there are few that have been silly enough to spend the money twice :)

Well so far frustrated with the conversion. I got all of it put together and on the ground, it looked pretty severe with the camber. This was using the same shims(just small one on the both sides to get me -.5 camber) as was done with the previous SOT arms that was aligned correctly before.

Took it to the alignment shop and they said I was sitting at almost -4 degrees. The only way to get it corrected is to disassemble the front end and extend the arms. Disappointed honestly. Because that is going to cost me $$$. Wish Shaun would have them sent all the same to prevent this from occurring. Measure everything if you are doing a conversion or upgrading to prevent the unnecessary costs for additional labor.

Didn't you compare the previous UCA length with the new ones?

Did you adjust the Heims at the end of the control arm or are they all the way in?
I have not, it will have to wait about another month.

I did get the toe set close to spec...I have a 70 mile trip to make this weekend with -3.5 degrees of camber 🤣 and then the car will be towed to my new home in Texas.

Once there I will extend the heims 1/2" per @Shaun @ Street or Track to get them the same length as his previous arms. Then I will drive it extensively after one more alignment and give updates.

It wont be a true apples to apple comparison but close as I replaced the Koni's with Bilstein's all around.

Really excited to find out, but packing and getting ready for the move has pushed this back a bit. :)

Traveled 70 miles without a hitch. Didn’t look too closely at the tires but I think they survived ok. One step closer to Texas!!

Initial thoughts, I do prefer the Bilsteins over the Koni’s which were great! Feels more planted.

In a month or two I’ll have a full review. :)
