When my car is warmed up it will die as I pull into a parking lot. If I am at a stop sign then it doesn't die and idles just fine but it seems that if i push in the clutch and coast into a corner like pulling into a parking lot then it dies. Any ideas? Also when my car has been sitting for a week or so without being driven it takes about a min of cranking the engine until it starts (same when the engine is hot but I attribute that to vaporlock). Are these problems related?

Healthy 347 with an edlebrock 700 cfm Carb and a T5.

Thanks

How low are you trying to idle it? If it is real low, then can be more fussy.

However, I would also check float level first, while under the hood I would look for any vacuum leaks.

If the fuel filter hasn't been changed recently, change it. Its generally not miles on our hot rods, its varnished fuel, so change it if you haven't this year.

As far as the starting issue, could be heat related, if you have room a 1 inch phenolic spacer would be helpful to keep fuel from boiling

It idles at about 800 rpm. Fuel filter is pretty new- Everything under the hood (engine, carb, etc) is less than 8 months. I will check out the filter though. I don't have a spacer but my intake is an edlebrock airgap. I will check to see if I have more room for a spacer.

Low float level. When you turn a corner and go up the parking lot ramp it is sloshing over and uncovering the jets.

Float levels would be my first thing to look at too. But don't count out low fuel pressure at idle. If your pump is not putting out enough pressure at idle, then you will just suck the bowl dry. Might have a hole in the diaphram.

Yep one of the floats was off by quite a bit. I accidently bent a metering rod so I will have to wait until I get a new one before I can test it out. Thanks all for the advice.
