What is your dream Mustang?

Obviously we all like Mustangs. But all of us have that one car we would love to own over all others. What's your dream Mustang and why? Is it attainable? Do you own it now? Would you be willing to part with you're current car in order to have it?

Mine is a 67 fastback S code. To me its the perfect blend of style and muscle. Sadly they're so expensive owning one is basically unattainable unless I win the lottery.

Mine is a 66 Shelby GT350. Don’t own it now and like you, probably out of reach for me now with prices being what they are.

Hell I’d be willing to part with my 66 fastback and my 3 other vintage muscle cars to get a real one.

I'd like to have a 69 Sportsroof with a built 351C and a 4 speed. But I wouldn't give up my 65 for it because I've owned it for so long and my family would kill me if I did. Too many good, bad, and indifferent memories with this one.

Interesting question as we all have preferences. A 65/66 GT350 would be at the top of my list, but now they are all but unobtanium.
My second choice is also my work in progress. A 70 Mustang Boss 302 would take my top spot. The closest I could afford after moving to AZ was a 70 Mach 1 that was in need of a lot of help. The first owner painted over the original Calypso Coral orange twice, why?. The original engine was gone and again the original owner had banged up the front of the car.
As the third owner, my turn to fix up the car and get it running again. I decided I wanted a Boss 302 tribute and that is the route I have taken. Not just a tribute, but a full pro touring Coyote swapped restomod. I am now in the last couple years of the build with the final body work and paint. I should have the car on the road in late 2023, hopefully it will live up to my vision.

I'm with the last few posts... I'm lucky to be building my favorite mustang, a 1968 Fastback. But if I had to pick another, it would be the 1969 Boss 302. I have the below picture of my favorite color combo, and this car belongs to someone here on the forum. That said, all the cars listed by everyone above are pretty awesome!

Love this question.

I already own mine (my 66 fastback) as I've built it. Expensive, rare stuff certainly has its appeal, but I built mine the way I want it, and I'd feel guilty doing the same stuff to a Shelby or whatever.

As an addendum to the question, I've discovered over the years that beyond the one I've had for decades and love, I need other Mustangs for different reasons. A small stable of 2 or 3 with different purposes is better than something pricey that I feel like I couldn't really enjoy.

The “Anvil” 69 Mustang, by Pure Vision design.

It’s one of those high dollar builds that in my mind has tasteful and timeless modifications to it. And with a 520ci Kaase Boss9, an engine that is equally timeless.

I love my car, and will keep it for as long as I reasonably can, but cant say it’s my dream car. But it’s the closest I could get given the time, money, and talent (or lack thereof) that I possess.

Close second would be a 67 Shelby GT350. The nose, the hood scoop, the side scoops, all just look perfect.

All in all, just thankful I am in a position to own a classic.

ELEANOR!!!!!! ROFLMAO..... Calm down, just getting your guys blood pressure up.

Mine would be 66 GT 350R, 66 GT 350H (Why I bought my 380R Roush in black with gold stripes and how I got my screen name) and of course a 69/70 Boss 429.

All of these came out before I was old enough to drive. By the time I earned enough money to buy something they have become so expensive they are just pipe dreams for me.

However, I'm VERY content with my 65 Coupe in its current build state. I'm building the car with everything I've always wanted in it (427 stroker, 5 speed TKO, Borla 8 stack EFI, Ford 9 inch and other items I think are cool like 4 wheel disc brakes, electronic emergency brake, back up camera, center console and custom gauges).

After investing all this time and money building it myself and making the car the way I want it I don't think I would ever get rid of it for something else.

It's current condition. A work in progress....

Well if i can ever finish the dream I have in my head it'll be my 70 Mach1 I currently have. Other stablemates I can only dream of having would be: 1. 69 Mach1 M code, 4 speed shaker car triple black with F/R spoilers and rear window louvers. Basically my first car finished the way I had planned it. 2. 69/70 Shelby FB in any of the Grabber Blue/Green/Orange. 3. 69/70 Boss 302 any of the Grabber colors or Black. 4. 71 Boss 351.

My backups are a 1970 Boss 302 or a 1971 Boss 351. The Shelby is out of my price range. If I scraped every nickel I had together, I could buy a real Boss 302 or Boss 351. But the truth is I'd be scared to drive it and would be afraid to change anything on it for fear of killing the value. That's why I'm building my car as a Boss 302 tribute car. Not my car below. Just the look I'm shooting for.

Some of y'all might find it strange, but my '65 hardtop is about as close as it could get for me. I appreciate the rare and collectible stuff, but it's just not for me; I'd be too worried about wrecking it and depriving the world of something historically significant. I'd rather put the money into some serious mods and make the car my own, doing it my way--which I've done pretty successfully, for the most part.

I can appreciate that. I don't want any car that's too nice or rare to drive without giving me anxiety.
