I have had this car for about 4 years. I had started to restore it to original. It's a plain as they come T code. Once I purchased the 66 GT, this car was put on the back burner, no, it wasn't on a burner at all. I am still working on the GT (see the thread link in my signature) but have decided to work on this car some as well. This is going to be s-l-o-w. I'm in no hurry and I have a bunch of parts I need.

The plan is to make this a 4 speed car with the look and feel of a road racer/track car. I want some HP under the hood but nothing ridiculous (if there is such a thing). Maybe in the neighborhood of 350hp, 4 speed toploader and 3.50 to 4.00 rear gears.

Here are some pictures of what I'm starting with. If you see or hear or know of any of the parts I'm going to need (especially on the cheap) feel free to let me know about them.

Congrats on getting it running and moving under it’s own power! It’s a great feeling of accomplishment.

Reminds me of the go kart stage when I built my Cobra replica. Drove it with headers only with my buddy (sitting on the bare aluminum floor) to do victory laps in the neighborhood. Lol.

Sometimes I take my wrenches and throw them at this car, only as payback...maybe it'll cooperate tomorrow.

Working on front steering linkage and trying to make everything work together...yeah, so much fun...

Maybe I'll go watch the burst video again...

I use 80 on a DA to take a panel to bare metal. By the time you put 2 coats of epoxy primer and high build or polyester primer, you will not see the 80 marks. FWIW, I have seen plenty of bodymen strip a panel with 40 grit on a mud hog. It takes a light touch and continuous movement with the sander. It's not for the inexperienced. Back in the 80's and 90's I have stripped plenty of the Ford trucks and GM cars with peeling issues this way.
