Wanna guess the winning bidder ? Leno comes to mind
or
The winning bid? priceless
First person that came to my mind when I saw the story.

If I hit the powerball between now and January, I'm going to drive the living $^!# out of it. >:)

A phone bidder from Dubai?

It'll go for one sick price, that's for sure. Possibly even more than Shelby's '67 Supersnake. Be interesting to see. Quarter panel rust and everything.

Well I was wondering when good old fashioned greed would catch up with it. It didn't take long from I could never sell this car to putting it on Mecum.

Since this Kiernan probably has never put so much as a penny into this car I think he should have donated it to the Ford museum or allowed the McQueen family to buy it for whatever a reasonable price would be.

Leno is probably up in the top 5 or so of the list since Leno got to actually drive the car. It wouldn't be too bad for Leno to get it because he would keep it well preserved. I suspect that Leno would fix it up too though.

When it hits 500k, the bidding pool will drain pretty fast.
I'll concede that point quickly, but the people who are in the car collecting business that want THE one car from THE Mustang movie of all time, exceed the number of people willing to pay 500k for THIS car. The people that will be bidding on this car will pay what it takes to own it. The only question in my mind is what that person is going to pay for it.

From "Blue Bloods" TV show. Most (all?) of you've probably seen this but just in case... seems germane to the thread...

"...you either get it, or you don't"

(For some reason the youtube video does not play?!?, so you may have to cut and paste the youtube link in your browser to see it)

I'm so there dudes...

My girlfriend's father has lived across the street behind the Mecum auction (Heritage Park/Silver Spurs Arena) field since 1976 before the auction was even there. They also have yearly Rodeos there every year up to today.

Maybe the McQueens will have a chance to buy it back??!??

Will be curious to see who the actual auction winner will be...!

Dana Mecum must be seeing serious $$$$$$ right now.... I bet B-J must be pissed on this one....No doubt...!

I wonder what the reserve is!

)

So, you have the funds and wherewithal to buy it; do you fully restore it to "as filmed" condition or leave it as is? As is to me is a famous car someone bought and then let deteriorate for 50 years although I agree that some cars have a higher value "as is". I know a guy with a true "survivor" 63 1/2 R code Galaxie that I believe should be left as is but I'm torn on this one. What say the gallery?
