Header wrap?

Can i get some feedback on header wrap? My 69 is a street driver. Other than red light racing, any reason to keep the header wrap on the car? As some of you know, I recently had a large oil spill last week which soaked some of the header wrap. Should I leave it? Remove and replace it? Or just remove it? Thanks all.

Definitely remove it. The wrap was used to keep heat in the headers to assist the scavenging of the gases. Street warriors don't benefit. Also, if the headers are not coated, it will speed up the deterioration. A good set of ceramic coated headers will achieve two goals. Protect from corrosion and retain a certain degree (Pun?) of heat.

We've covered this topic a number of times on the VMF......
No wrap on street car headers. Ever.
