And you get it back looking like this, and it operates like a brand new box:

 

Out of curiosity, I was doing some video searches about steering boxes. I ran across this one of a young daughter and father working on a Falcon. Thought you might enjoy it as well:

? do you mean sending the whole car and attempt to rebuild it w/o removing?

You will need to remove the box and ship it. You didn't say what year car you have, '65-'67 are solid shaft from steering wheel to box and are much more work to get out and a long box to ship. The '68> are 2 piece with a coupler bushing at the box and much easier to remove/ ship. Years are general statement, some late '67 had the coupler bushing/ short box.

 

I do all my own resto work....weld/paint/rebuild a trans.
Chock's service is so good/reasonable that I don't bother doing it myself.
What does that tell you?

 

@308223 - The downside here is that I think Chock is spending the winter in warmer climes. May be a delay if you're in a hurry.

 

I live in Texas and it's cold here now. I can wait. It's always easier to work when I can feel my fingers.

 

Chock did mine for my 69 Convertible. Highly recommend him.

I have one for sale that Chock rebuilt for me. I ended up putting in a rack/pinion instead.
