I saw a post here with a pic showing poorly fitting console parts and it got me thinking..."That MUST be one of those parts advertised as an "exact repo"...yeah right, but isn't that what they all say?!"
I don't think this has been posted before, so how about a list of Poorly made or Poorly fitting repo parts. If you have any you'd like to add, please do, including any info on the Mfg or supplier (pictures are always welcome!) so maybe this will prevent us from buying bad repo parts, and making the same mistakes, or maybe some suppliers may listen and demand better manufactured parts...although I think the former is more likely to occur, I can dream.
I can't believe the repo companies go through all the trouble of designing molds and then producing in mass quantities parts that don't even fit (I like to call them RePOOP, re reproduction crap!) It just defies logic.
Here is the start of my Repoop List:
Repoop fender/trunk "MUSTANG" letters with the mounting pins in the wrong place, so that when installed, the word MUSTANG isn't even LEVEL?!?!
Apron stampings that don't fit/have the wrong contour or badly shaped crease lines.
The two repo dash pads for the 67-68 stangs one has the wrong grain, the other repo doesn't fit right...feel free to add to this list!
I know some will say we should be glad for the aftermarket suppliers, but WE are the DEMAND ($) and that is why THEY SUPPLY, SO LET'S DEMAND QUALITY in the only language they understand, it's time to speak -$$$$$$!
