Looks like the 68-up floating caliper. Why?

 

I bought new rotors made for the 66 and with new pads the calipers don't fit the rotors, is this right or know why these aren't fitting.

 

Because they aren't 66 calipers. The 65-67 was a fixed four-piston caliper, totally different in every way from the non-stock conversion you have.

This is the 66 disc brake-

 

No outer pad retainer pin holes in calipers so not '68 to '73. Caliper also has an Allen head bolt for retaining slider piece as on later Ford calipers so I'm going to say "Granada/Monarch style caliper. Also used on Maverick Comet.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

 

There is an Allen key bolt in the front

 

Looks like the calipers I have (1970)- But to figure the rotors out you'd need to either match the rotor, or figure out what spindles you have -usually a number on the engine side (with them installed) If you can't figure it out- call chockostang

 

They are Granada.

Take back the rotors, get 75 Granada rotors, Calipers, Pads, all will be "Well".

This is a common occurance with those ill fitting brakes.

Ya I got the rotors for a 66 not knowing any better really. So now I'm just needing to find the combo that works.

 

If you use stock trims they need to be for disc brakes or they won't work. Later drum brake rims might fit, don't remember.

 

Ya I compressed the caliper as far as it would go, it has the magnum 500 gt wheels on it seem to fit just fine. I'm thinking tomorrow to just take the old rotors and see if they can match them or find a part number

 

Chances are you have Granada brakes. See if you can find casting numbers on your spindles....

 

That is a 1975-80 Granada type caliper and bracket. It uses a 5419 rotor and D91 pad set.

Thanks guys, just the answer I needed. Unfortunately I've already put the other rotors on the car and threw away the boxes. Someday I'm going to convert it to the right setup and I'll be sure to give y'all a call.

 

Well, another victom of the "Pushers" of those DAm Granada Brakes.

Now, we have "pushers" of new brakes using GRANADA Spindles. Another Slick Green Weenie deal for the unaware.

Talk around, those original rotors won't be hard to sell. They are originals, much more demand for then than the inferior brakes.

NP- just post them up on here Someone will be needing some 66 rotors I am sure. Might have to give them a deal, but it beats tripping over them.
