Is it because it is against the law and thus challenging authority?
Is it because it is exciting and challenges our senses?
Is it because of testosterone and can't be helped?
Is it because of competition?
Is it because of one's desire to get as far away from idiots and incompetents?
Is it because we are in a hurry?
I'm asking in a serious manner. While I don't speed excessively, I do drive agressively but controllably...at or slightly above the speed limit, but without taking unncessary risks. Why? I'm a Type A personality, and am usually in a hurry and hate slow-pokes. However, when driving across country, my driving habits are more reasonable. I settle down to a speed slightly less than "the pack", trying to avoid getting stuck into one. I don't like to be surrounded by cars where I have no chance for escape should a problem arise.
