Battery Isolation Switch/Kill Switch

Has anyone installed one of these?

I have one laying about and would like to put in the cab of my basic '65 FB. I need to make or pick up a mounting bracket.

I have the Moroso version. It mounts using the front stem which is threaded and a hold down washer and bolt locks it down. Then the cut off switch lever goes on a shaft inside the stem. The cable connections are isolated on the back.


Unless there is something that isn't shown in the photo that switch doesn't appear to lend itself to being mounted. You could mount it using the nuts on the back but the mount would have to be plastic or some other non-conductive something.

That is an awfully big switch to mount discretely. I know you already have it, but there are better options that fit neatly under the hood, or can be hidden and used with a relay.

And unless you have a trunk mounted battery, you wouldn't want to run a battery cable into the car and back again through the firewall just to use a switch.

Whats the goal? Anti theft or battery drain during storage? This was sub $20 and made in "M"erica!

Mine was not installed as a security device, but as a safety component. Just last week my solenoid stuck in the closed position, which held the starter engaged with the flywheel. I was unable to shut the motor off with the ignition switch. Reaching into the engine compartment, I was able to quickly flip the switch to shut everything down.


I replaced the solenoid with a new Motorcraft part that I had to order. Guess where it was made!
