It's in the classifieds here. Unfortunately that shell does look toast, same for the rimblow. Neither are likely restorable or good for parts. And I don't see many 69/70 coupe to fastback conversions compared to the earlier years, so I can't see it being used for that purpose.

He seems to be presenting that body shell honestly and accurately. He is also stating up front there is no VIN or title and, therefore, says it's a parts car. While we could certainly debate the price point, I think that's the seller's prerogative.

Just my take, but as long as someone isn't being deceitful or lying about a car's condition, trim line or something, I don't have a problem with what seems like a high price. The market will decide.

Now, when I was looking for my project, I hauled a trailer four hours one way for a 1970 Mach 1 that was completely misrepresented. On the phone, the seller insisted there was rust in the floor pans, but nowhere else. Of course, once I got there, I found rusted frame rails, torque boxes, rockers, doors, quarters, fenders and more. I think only the roof was holding it together. That's just not cool.

I don't see anything wrong with the add. It looks like they are recommending it for parts (not the start of a resto like some have commented on).

In addition, a lot of people will start with a higher selling price with an expectation that the actual selling price will be lower. However, it appears a lot of people on VMF haven't figured that out yet based on the weekly threads like this.

I think my rimblow looked worse than that before I had it restored.

I don't understand the point of starting a thread like this. Are you simply saying you don't need the parts? Or are you saying you are cheap? Or are you saying you are well off and you give your stuff away?

Is it listed as just parts: Yes
Is there a demand for fastback roofs for conversion: Yes
Is he trying to sell a VIN for evil purposes? No

So other than just not liking ???? what is the beef with the ad?

Maybe it is high, but that is what negotiations are for.

At the Pate Swap Meet 2 weeks ago, there were thousands of vendors selling stuff. There were probably over 200 spaces that had some sort of Mustang parts. I bought a lot of stuff out there, and also did NOT buy a lot of stuff. One person had a plain jane 1965 1966 Mustang headlight bucket, used, $500. It was the only Mustang part he had, so he will carry it a long time, but that is his choice. Another person has had a 1966 instrument cluster for $200. I have seen it at a minimum of 5 swap meets, again, the only Mustang part he has. If he wants to carry it for 20 years, it is his choice.

I would not post about them though, as they are not deceitful or dishonest, just a different opinion of price.

Notice the ad is in Eau Claire the heart of the rust belt. There used to be a rumor. 1970 cars sheetmetal was inferior most came from China. Haven't wasted time checking with Snopes but this was the word back in the late 70s.

In the late 70s you could observe 70 cars of all brands dissapearing as you watched. Take your pick. Honda, Challenger, Mustang, Torino, it was like the 70 models used inferior sheet steel.

I always heard the rumour as pertaining to Japanese cars, that they used recycled metal and it was not as good. Those early Japanese pickups sure did rust.
