I'm looking for some recommendations on shops that specialize in early Mustang restorations and resto-mods within the USA.

I've heard of a couple:

Mustang Restorations located in the Chicago area - Mustang Restorations - Classic Ford Mustang restoration - Chicago
Orlando Mustangs located in Orlando - Orlando Mustang | Concours & Used Ford Mustangs | Serving Southeast USA
Also a shop in the Houston area, but can't remember the name.

I'm sure there are others. If anyone has experience with the above or knows of other shops, please post. I'm looking into having a car built and since it's going to cost a small fortune I'd like to get recommendations from those in the know.

I'd like to hear the good and bad.

Thanks

I'm envious, what's your rough budget?

Great story. In 2001, I found a '67 Fastback for $1800 that ran so well, my brother drove it to my place from the dudes house. I had $80K in the bank and was wanting to mend the fences with my old man and him and I turn it into a beautiful 1/4 beast. Not only did he not care about mending the fences, he said he'd do it all over again.
I never even brought the car up. I called the guy who sold it to me and asked if I could return it and he said sure.
I'd still have that car today and it would have the supercharged Coyote V8.
What might have been.
Looking at my 2024 Dark Horse I got for Christmas makes up for it, ha! Cheers!

Colorado, but I have family and friends all around the country. It's also pretty easy for me to travel. Somewhat local would but a big plus, but not required. If I'm going to spend the dollars required I'm more interested in the quality of work & price, vs. location. Regarding price, I suspect most are going to be in the same price range.

I haven't got the car yet. I'm looking at a couple right now. But open to restoration for the right car. Otherwise a resto-mod.

Thanks

What about Rusty Gillis's place down in Florida? He and his crew do some EXCEPTIONAL bodywork for sure.

People I'd trust (being on VMF since 2014, and CMF back in the day since 2004) are Glazier's, and Pete's Ponies. Pete is now in NC (I think). I met Pete some time ago when he was in Maryland. He was in the process of restoring a 68 GT 390. F#@k, Yeah!
Haven't met Dave from Glazier's in person yet, but looking forward to the day when our paths cross.

Pete recently finished my car. Was very happy with the process and results. OP is a little vague on expectations and budget. Pete is in Wallace S.C.
